Scottdale Borough Unveils New Logo

We’d like to thank everyone who shared ideas, concepts, artwork, and feedback for our Logo Contest. We have a winner, based on that input!

We are are incredibly proud to announce that the original artwork created by Scottdale’s own, artist D.J. Coffman, was the runaway crowd favorite.

He shared this about his vision:

Scottdale Borough Logo“Here’s my submission for a Scottdale Borough logo. To me, it came very easy as I know what Scottdale means to me in my mind. I was born here. I learned to ride my bike right down on Chestnut Street. I attended Kindergarten and 1st grade in the big old school on the hill. When I was a kid, the mayor was our backyard neighbor. When I was 5 years old my little girlfriend and I tried to build a raft and float away in the little creek nearby. I’ve been all over the country and all over the world, but I find peace in Scottdale, which is why I choose to live here and raised my family here. When the car service drops me off or picks me up here they always comment on what a nice little town it it, and I refer to Scottdale as a Living Norman Rockwell painting. Frozen in time somehow, and trying to still find its way in a new world”.

About this sketch concept.

“One of the most iconic views in Scottdale is when you drive down Loucks Avenue and the trees make a shaded canopy, and just beyond you see the laurel highlands. The trees line the road, along with welcoming sidewalks… and a family silhouette is featured. This logo signifies the sense of community and family that embodies small town America. “

We can’t thank D.J. enough for presenting us with this logo, which absolutely exemplifies Scottdale and was a gift from the heart, by someone who grew up in town and feels that bond, still, today.

Below, please find D.J.’s inspiration view, his initial conception, and the finished product. Please join us in thanking him for sharing his talents with our town.

Logo Concept

In lieu of payment, D.J. asked that a donation be made to one of our local non-profit groups. Funding for this logo venture was being donated by the members of the Scottdale Borough Council, who has now made a donation to support this year’s Scottdale Fall Festival, as the event promises to be bigger, better, and with more community collaboration and partnership than we’ve ever had before. Community is what we are all about!

Thank you, D.J., we love this logo and all that it represents! You’re the perfect example of our Scottdale talent and hometown pride!
