Our parks feature ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, play equipment, picnic areas and a water sprinkler. Loucks Park features lights for night time play at the ball diamond and on the tennis courts, a concession stand and a pavilion that can be rented out for parties and meetings. The Gazebo Parklet located in the heart of downtown, offers shaded park benches along with a gazebo that has been the backdrop of many photos.
A recreation program is offered for area children during the summer months at Loucks Park. Children are given the opportunity daily to participate in making a craft and to take part in a fitness program. Play equipment is also available for use during this time. In conjunction with the Southmoreland School District, a free lunch is also offered as part of the Summer Food Program.
The Parks Commission sponsors the Olympics in the Park event at Loucks Park, the annual Car Show on Pittsburgh Street and the summer concert series at the Gazebo Parklet.
The Parks Commission meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm in the Borough Office.
Help Stop Vandalism
The Borough is asking for citizen support in an attempt to eliminate the costly theft and vandalism of street signs, play equipment, park furniture and other Borough property. Your assistance in reporting these acts of vandalism will be most appreciated and, more importantly, save valuable taxpayer dollars. Please notify the Police Department by calling 911.
